DIN 1.2419 Cold Work Tool Steel Bar
Type:Round bar
Delivery condition: Annealed black surface/Turned bright surface/Q+T
Products Description
1.2419 steel is the most commonly used high carbon alloy tool steel for mold making.1.2419 steel has high hardenability. As tungsten forms tungsten carbide, this steel has more excess carbide, higher hardness and wear resistance than chromium steel and 1.2607 Steel. In addition, tungsten also helps to preserve fine grains, which makes the steel obtain better toughness. Therefore, the cutting tool made of CrWMn steel has less edge breaking phenomenon and can better maintain the shape and size of the edge.

1.2419 Steel Heat Treatment

1.2419 Steel Characteristics:
1.2419 steel is a widely used cold work die steel, known as "unchangeable steel", but it is sensitive to form network carbides. It is mainly used for cutting tools (such as broaches, long taps, long reamers, special milling cutters) and measuring tools (such as dies, block gauges, gauges, sample columns, sample sleeves) with small deformation and complex shape when quenching, as well as high-precision cold stamping dies with small section and complex shape.

Soft Annealing
Heat to 1050-850°C,cool slowly in furnace. This will produce a maximum Brinell hardness of 230.
Stress Relieving
Stress relieving to remove machining stresses should be carried out by heating to approx 750°C,holding for 1-2 hour at heat, followed by air cooling. This operation is performed to reduce distortion during heat treatment.
Hardening
Harden from a temperature of 1050-850°C followed by oil quenching or warm bath quenching 150-250°C. Hardness after quenching is 64 HRC.

Forging of ASTM T4 Tool Steel Materials
Forging of T4 steel can be carried out from 850 to 1120°C (1775 to 2100°F).
Preheat T4 steel material uniformly and slowly to 860-880°C.
Increase the forging temperature up to 1050-1120°C.
T4 hss tool steel should be cooled very slowly after forging.
AISI/ASTM T4 Tool Steel Heat Treatment and Properties
